Perfect Girls is a Facebook page
where people from all over the world, representing many major languages, can
unite for the common good of admiring photos of girls’ bodies. It also serves as a gateway to a porn site where viewers can download videos, primarily entitled "How to Seduce Hot Girls."The viewers call
the subjects girls, but from the images posted, most of them look to be over
18, and therefore, are actually women. The images are all highly sexualized and
feature plenty of idealized female figures in very little clothing. The women
in the photographs are not named, and their locations are not even disclosed.
So if you would like to find the women to compliment them on the ways that they
maintain their physical condition, it is impossible.
I’m
being somewhat tongue in cheek here because a site like this is not new or
revolutionary, but it is a good place to start our journey from object to
subject. Clearly the participants in this social media site have no desire to
really meet these women in their exotic locations. They are simply objects of
fantasy. And that is where the trouble begins. The photographs of the women
present them as sexually available, ready for the men on the other side of the
computer screen, with no other indicators of who they are as individuals. These
“perfect girls” are not real people, but instead little more than mannequins
and dolls that men can use for their own gratification.
